Prestigio 1445 Notebook SUCKS

Yea that’s the notebook im talking abt. Ill start with a two word explanation for that “THIS SUCKS”

1st of all I bought this on 5th JAN 2006

I was in a hurry to get a notebook and I check different specs of different brands of notebooks and I found this one with quiet a good configuration & the price was ok too. I got my self this notebook and 1st I checked it with ubuntu Live CD. It was great the display, battery, wifi etc…….. was working perfectly. Then I used it with windowsxp for a few days and I just wasn’t satisfied abt the battery life. When I bought this I asked the guys there abt the battery life and they told me that it will last for 3 hours at least, I think its ok. BUT the damn notebook wasn’t up for even TWO hours. I complained abt this. They took it and asked me to come later. They gave it back to me after sometime and told me that the battery is replaced now and it will last for a long time. BUT so called battery replacing didn’t work at all. It was better then b4, I think it was 2 hours that time. But still I wasn’t satisfied. So again I took it there and complained this time also it was the same took it and gave it sometime later saying that it’s a new battery. Still it wasn’t good, still the same problem.

Later I found out another problem while I was trying to install Fedora core4. Actually I was waiting for Core5 and thought of installing Core4 cox it’s taking too much time for its release. U know what happed? The damn notebook doesn’t even fully boots from the installation CD. It just hangs in the boot screen saying that there is a root block mounting error blah blah.. Can u imagine that im talking abt Fedora core4 not just a simple OS or some once pet project OS. That’s one of the most famous Linux around. 1st I thought its a CD problem but later I check with several CD’s and still it keeps on giving the same error. BUT those CD’s boots on other PC’s and several notebooks I checked with :S. So I took the notebook AGAIN to them and complained abt that. I told them that according to the error I think it’s a RAM problem BUT im not sure. 1st the CD loads all the configuration and stuff to the RAM and at the final step it will start the installation or copying DATA to the Hard disk. When I went later that night they told me that it doesn’t work on any Prestigio models they have. Damn man!!!!!! Then they told me that they have to contact the manufacturer and they are closed for Chinese New Year. And the New Year doesn’t seem to end even after a whole week. Did I tell u abt the wifi problem I haven’t right? Ok, there was this wifi problem also. Let’s just say I boot the notebook some times it shows me the wifi network device & drivers. BUT other times it doesn’t…. it just boots windows and say new device found… how the hell can it find a new device when I not pluggin anything …. Then it says Network drivers something… u know I have all the drivers installed. Just from nowhere says it got some new thing found.. Well that’s the wifi device going crazy :S … grrrrrrrrrr some time when I have the wifi router right next to me like 5 feet’s away it says it couldn’t find it :S when other notebooks can find it. With ubuntu live CD also it takes the driver sometimes. So can’t say that it’s a windowsxp drivers problem right?

grrr im really pissed off cox of this notebook THIS SUCKS BIG TIME……………

I BOUGHT THE NOTEBOOK FROM TECHWORLD there slogan it says light the future or what ever.

1st i went there around 6.00 PM and handed over the notebook to them. It’s nicely packed with all the stuffs i got. They told me to come around 8.00PM.
Then i went there around 9.00PM and was there till 10.00 and until I met some one who can ans me… ok, hell there was an ans. U guys know what that ans is?

Techworld: “we have to send it to Malaysia to install fedora core4 to it & it will take like 3 weeks”

So I told them that I can’t agree with that and that’s not the solution that they should provide and it’s been like 1month and 6 days since I bought it & still I couldn’t use it properly. Then there came one of the share holders of that place & I explained the problem to him (AGAIN). He told me that the person in charge of that shop is in Malaysia. In abt 5 to 6 days he will be back & I could talk to him. U know I was there near that shop from 9.00PM to 10.30PM… IS THIS WHAT THEY CALL GIVING A CUSTOMER SERVICE. AFTER SALES SERVICE SUCKS. AND SO DOES THE NOTEBOOK. Even I mailed to the technical support in www.prestigio.com.my on Thursday 9th Feb 2006 and still no ans from them…….. NOW its seems that there is only one way just wait for the guy in Malaysia to come……………
